I MAY JUST BE A GROWN UP...

It occured to me last night, in a somewhat disturbing string of thoughts, that I may have actually become a "grown up". I'm not sure how I feel about that.

The revelation came to me as I was cleaning up after my parents and some of their friends came to visit for the day. Gathering up the non-breakable outdoor glasses from cocktail time.. thinking I need to get addresses from my mother to send thank you notes for housewarming gifts.. and trying to figure out how to install a double towel rack on the bathroom wall without knocking the house down... when I put the thoughts together in my head.. I heard a huge mental "gasp".

I got over it for a while.. but then as I was getting ready for bed (at an hour when I used to begin considering what my plans for the night would be..) and set the alarm a half hour early because I had things to do BEFORE work (who knew you could do things before work??).. it hit me again.. and harder. This is too much.

Quick rewind. Saturday night: martini night downtown. Not exactly beer swilling. Hmmm...

Wednesday night: drinks after work. I went.. but only for 45 minutes because I was tired.. and there was something on TV I wanted to watch (OK.. granted it was the West Wing season premiere.. but still...).

Last weekend.. Vegas. Getting closer.. but I still didn't pull a single all-niter.. (although that may have saved me several hundred dollars at the rate I was losing money).

How exactly does one un-grow-up?
