IT RAINED SO HARD..

All together: "How hard did it rain?"

It rained so hard that birds couldn't stay in the air or in the trees. They were all huddled together on the ground at the tree trunks trying to stay above water. Quite a sight..

OK.. I FEEL BETTER ABOUT CROSS TALK

In todays cut in on a competing station:

(Anchor), after reading a report on contamination levels at Tigertail Beach on Marco Island and tossing to weather says, "If it weren't for the fecal matter it would be a nice day to go to the beach there."

ANY IDEAS?

I'm the big-time fill in guy this week.. since most everyone else is on vacation. That means between Monday and Friday.. I will have to do 30 different tosses to weather. As you read this, I'm probably through about 18. I'll admit it - I'm running out of things to say.

Here's how you can tell:

Today 5:30pm - "A funny thing happened when I walked out the front door today.. I didn't get wet." (We've had quite a bit of rain lately).

Yesterday 5pm - "I checked the license plates in the parking lot.. and they all still say SUNSHINE State..."

As you can see - things are getting desperate. Any ideas??

RANDOM THOUGHTS..

When you get home from work at midnight, you're allowed to just sit down and let your mind wander. Hell, everyone else is asleep - so what else would you do?

First day back after a vacation or a fun time is always very hard for me. I spent most of the day in mental rewind - re-enjoying the weekend I just had with my friends in South Carolina. Note to self: hitting rewind isn't always a bad thing as long as you stop and hit play once in a while.

While I was gone - we had 14.26 inches of rain. If you look at my backyard - you might not be surprised to see the animals lining up two-by-two.. there's a bit of residual water. Thankfully it's mostly all outside.. hope the mosquitos stay there as well.

Speaking of pests: the theme of the summer is going to be weeding out. There are too many things in my life right now (and a couple of people) that serve no positive purpose. I made a list on the plane ride last night - and before my birthday I'm going to clean house - give myself a present. The end result will be worth it - but getting there could get ugly. (Writer's note: No one who knows to read this blog would be on that list).

MISH MASH..

Some interesting reading for anyone in the TV biz.

Here's some more with all due credit to the proBucer who wrote it (see May 31 entry).

And - a possible addition to the Drunken Olympics - or some other such event. I recently bought two high powered water pistols for my "little brothers" - both 8 years old. On Saturday, they decided to try them out in the pool. We got into a three-way water fight (eventhough I was unarmed). Later that night - 12 pack in hand - two friends and I also found ourselves in the pool. And there were the water guns. You do the math: 3 adults.. 12 beers.. 2 water guns. I need to go get a third one. What fun. :)
